A luxurious bathroom makeover for a coastal cottage

Hidden challenges didn’t stop this cute coastal cottage from getting a luxurious bathroom upgrade and a room with a view.

When it came time to make over the bathrooms and laundry of an outdated Wellington family home, architect Mona Kruse Hurnen of Callidus Architects was mindful to make use of its unique original spaces, including keeping tricky windows and tight corners.

“The home had been modified and extended over the years. It was very tired, and due to the complex windows, previous attempts to improve it had not worked,” she explains. “A lot of measuring and care went into this project, as we had to work with the existing windows, angles of walls and slopes to make sure the end result appeared effortless.”
